The Sound of Classical Music: Our Picks for Fall

You don’t need to be rich or pushing 80 to enjoy classical music—it’s for everyone. If you’re a fan of other music genres, all roads inevitably lead back to classical, even pop.

Living in Philadelphia, we are lucky to have multiple venues for classical music right in our backyard. This fall, why not try something a little different for your next live music adventure? Beethoven’s Eighth

Philadelphia Orchestra
October 16th & 17th, 8PM
Acclaimed Scottish conductor, Donald Runnicles, will lead the Philadelphia Orchestra through Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 as well as Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto and Brahms’ Variation on a Theme of Hadyn at the beautiful Verizon Hall. The evening will also feature virtuoso cellist, Johannes Moser.

Montrose Trio w/ Kazuhide Isomura on Viola
Philadelphia Chamber Music Society
October 27th, 8PM
The Montrose Trio will be joined by violist, Kazuhide Isomura, who was a founding member of the Tokyo String Quartet. The program will include Beethoven’s Piano Trio in E-flat Major, Op.1, No. 1; Lee’s Piano Trio No. 2, Temple Visions,; and Dvořák’s Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 87. There will also be a lecture preceding the music beginning at 6:45pm.

Tchaikovsky’s Winter Dreams
Philadelphia Orchestra
November 19th- 21st, 8PM (Thursday and Saturday) 2PM (Friday)
The renowned Italian conductor, Gianandrea Noseda, returns to Verizon Hall to lead the Philadelphia Orchestra through Liszt’s Mazeppa, Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1. The evening will also feature violinist, Leonidas Kavakos.
